Mediterranean
Classics is a parts and restoration company based near
Barcelona on the Mediterranean coast.
It was set up in 2002 by Erik Jeffery who is English
and has worked in the old car industry for many years in England, selling
parts and restoring English cars. His knowledge and contacts make an
ideal combination and can benefit the Spanish market by ensuring the
right part at the right price.

 |
Erik’s
objective is to remove the mystique about classic
English cars that seems to exist here in Spain. He is
always reminding customers than an MGB or a Mini are
probably the cheapest cars in the world to
buy parts.
If you compare the prices of parts for
both cars to a modern car they are usually many times
cheaper. The reason? The market in the UK is very competitive,
driving prices down, but you have to know where to buy
and you also have to know the quality of every part.
Here, at Mediterranean Classics we can offer quality
parts, often from stock at good prices.
|
Whilst
we specialise in Austin Healey, Jaguar, MG, Mini
and Triumph (and holds stock for all these models)
we can also source parts for other vehicles. Recently Sunbeam
Alpine parts have been sourced from approximately ten different
UK suppliers (This is where experience and contacts are
so important) and a customer in Mallorca needed a number
of very obscure brake parts for a Riley Pathfinder, all
of which we found and delivered personally to a very happy
customer. On this occasion three different UK suppliers
were used.
We are keen to work with the restorers
and specialist clubs to help members buy at better prices.
We are also willing to hold stock if companies or clubs
indicate that they have a demand for specific items.
Just a comment on buying directly
from the UK...
There are obviously a number of extremely
professional UK companies, some of whom have been in
business for many years and their knowledge and competence
is beyond reproach. However, not all companies are like
this and if you don’t know a company or its reputation
and your knowledge of English is only average, you need
to be careful:
How much is the transport? Do they
have stock? What happens if the part is incorrect?
What happens if the part is faulty? What happens if
the part never arrives?
|
These
are questions you need to ask and have satisfactory answers
before proceeding. There are many examples of customers being
disappointed. By buying from us, here at Mediterranean Classics,
in your own country, you can overcome nearly all these problems.
You know the price. (Prices are always quoted here in Catalunya)
It will not change after you get a quote; prices are normally
held for at least ninety days. You will get a delivery date
based either on stock availability or on the basis of regular
shipments which come into Barcelona every fortnight. Smaller
items come by post. If there is a problem with a part, incorrect
or faulty, it will be replaced. Parts usually have a guarantee
of one year. Some parts, such as stainless steel exhaust
systems, have a lifetime guarantee.
When Erik worked in the
UK, he would always encourage retail customers to buy
his product through recognised trade specialists in their
own
country, precisely for the reasons stated above. |

Erik has a lot of experience of
classics cars himself. He owns several MGs, including an
MG RV8, the only one in Spain and an MGA, several Jaguars
and a very special Austin Healey BJ7,which is probably one
of the best examples in Europe. (Erik’s brother, David,
who lives in the UK and who used to be his old partner, is
one of the world’s top Healey experts with two works
Healeys and an extraordinary collection of other cars. Often,
they still work together) Erik also has a genuine 1275 mk1,
Mini Cooper ‘S’ and in the past has owned an
enormous selection of British cars. We usually have the occasional
car for sale too. In addition we can offer customers restoration
and provide a range of products to help your classic performance
better. |
There has never been a better
time to have an English classic car.
